Mr. Thomas serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Thomas is currently the Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of LifeCell, Inc. Prior to joining LifeCell, Mr. Thomas was President of the Pharmaceutical Products Division of Ohmeda Inc., a world leader in inhalation anesthetics and acute care pharmaceuticals. Mr. Thomas was responsible for overall division operations, which had worldwide sales of approximately $200 million in 1997. Mr. Thomas serves as a director of Avanir Pharmaceuticals, which is focused on biopharmaceutical drug discovery and development. He earned a BS cum laude in chemistry from St. Michael’s College, Vermont, and an MBA with an emphasis in marketing and finance from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, New York. Mr. Thomas completed his postgraduate studies in chemistry at the University of Georgia Graduate School of Arts and Science.
Mr. Schorer is President and CEO of IST. Prior to joining IST, he was founder and CEO of CentriMed, a medical content and supply chain company. Mr. Schorer sold CentriMed to Global Healthcare Exchange in 2000. Mr. Schorer was a sales representative and trainer for a number of orthopedic and neurosurgery companies. Mr. Schorer served as an Airborne Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division. He trained at the National Training Center for the 1996 US Olympic rowing team, and was a member of the 1995 US Rowing World Championship team. Mr. Schorer earned a BA from Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and BE from Dartmouth’s Thayer School of Engineering.
Dr. Moll is a co-founder of Hansen Medical, and has served as its CEO and director since the company's inception in 2002. Dr. Moll co-founded Intuitive Surgical Inc., a medical device company in 1995 and served as its CEO, vice president and medical director. He co-founded Origin Medsystems, Inc., a medical device company in 1989, which was acquired by Eli Lilly and became an operating company within Guidant Corporation; Dr. Moll served as medical director of Guidant's Surgical Device Division. Dr. Moll earned a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, an MS from Stanford University, California, and an M.D. from the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle.
Dr. Adelman is a principal of OrbiMed Advisors, LLC. He focuses on private equity investments and structured transactions of small-capitalization public equity companies. Prior to this, Dr. Adelman was vice president of business development at NeoGenesis Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Adelman was a founder of Veritas Medicine, and a co-founder of Operon Technology, currently the largest commercial producer of synthetic DNA in the world. Dr. Adelman earned a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, a doctorate of medicine from Yale University School of Medicine, Connecticut, and trained as an orthopedic surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell University, New York.
Dr. Evnin is a general partner with MPM Capital. Dr. Evnin joined MPM in 1998 to launch its first venture fund, and established the San Francisco office for the firm in 1999. Dr. Evnin was general partner at Accel Partners, where he focused on biopharmaceutical, medical device and healthcare service companies for Accel's funds III, IV and V. Dr. Evnin is currently a Director of Enteromedics, Metabasis, Oxagen, Peptimmune, Restore Medical and Skyepharma Inc. He was previously a director at Idun Pharmaceuticals, Oscient, Sonic Innovations, Epic Therapeutics, EPIX Medical, Signal Pharmaceuticals and several other private companies. Dr. Evnin earned an AB in molecular biology magna cum laude from Princeton University, New Jersey, and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of California, San Francisco.
Damion E. Wicker, M.D.
Dr. Wicker is a co-founder and Managing Director of Panorama and focuses primarily on life sciences investments. Prior to founding Panorama Capital, Dr. Wicker was a Partner and Co-Head of Life Sciences for JPMorgan Partners (JPMP.) He joined JPMP in 1993. Prior to 1993, Dr. Wicker was President of Adams Scientific and held positions with MBW Venture Partners and Alexon, Inc. He was also a Commonwealth Fund Medical Fellow for the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Wickerpreviously served on a variety of boards including Innotech, dj Orthopedics, Eyetech Pharmaceuticals, and Renovo Limited. He was a member of the NVCA Life Sciences Group Board and The New York Bioscience Initiatives Board.
Dr. Wicker holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, with honors, from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an M.D. from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wicker currently serves on the board of directors of Cadent Holdings, Inc., Innovative Spinal Technologies, Inc., PowerVision Inc. and ProRhythm, Inc. He is currently on The Board of Trustees of the New York Academy of Medicine, a member of the Investment Committee for the New York Academy of Medicine Endowment, and an Advisor to the Hospital for Special Surgery Ventures Investment Committee.
Ralph Rashbaum, M.D.
Dr. Rashbaum is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with specialization in the spine, and is co-founder of the Texas Back Institute, the largest freestanding spine specialty clinic in the US. Dr. Rashbaum is assistant clinical professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, and a published author. He earned an M.D. from the University of Chicago Medical School, performed surgical residency at Strong Memorial Hospital, and completed his orthopedic surgical residency at Case Western Reserve and University Hospitals.
